Season 6, Episode 58: "Honour thy father" (original air date: March 12, 2004)
As a life hangs in the balance, Ken goes on a manhunt and Alistair gets his heart's desire. Dana's suspicions about Chad are fuelled by Chook, Lynda and lingerie.
Alistair cheers Nicky with stories of potential patricide, but eventually admits that friendly support is not the only reason he's continuing to come around. Nicky knows how Alistair feels and tries to address it, but he cuts her off. He doesn't want to hear bad news. But then there is more bad news... Alistair and Nicky attend William, who is in a critical condition, with a stab wound to the kidney and a head injury. Nicky is best qualified to go with him, so Alistair remains, waiting for back-up, which is a long time in coming. Louise feels guilty for her role in the stabbing. Wayne is sure that Louise had best intentions, but Louise, holding something back, is not so sure.
Dana is feeling something new for her - paranoia about her relationship. This is reinforced when Chad is planning a weekend away and claims to be talking to Lynda about his car repairs. Chook knows nothing about this, but Dana finds a partner in paranoia in Chook, who is suspicious about Lynda's supposed weekend women's retreat. And Lynda seems to have been buying lingerie. Dana gets more fuel for her suspicion when Kieran (Renato Bartolomei) lies badly for Chad. Kieran urges Chad to sort this, and Chad assuages Dana's fears. Dana realises that Lynda really is going on a women's retreat, but as she announces the happy news to Chook - an American woman arrives for car repairs. Dana finds that she's staying at the Agincourt and realises that Chad has lied to her. Angry and humiliated, she ends the relationship.
Ken starts on the trail to find Monique and Marley, who have taken off in William's car. Anton is disturbed to find a doctor has been attacked and that his daughter is involved. Then William's car is found crashed, and Marley is brought into the hospital. Anton assures Nicky that he will find Monique and make sure she suffers for what she has done. Disturbed by this, Nicky alerts Ken and tells him of Anton's vengeance on Graham when he got Monique pregnant. Ken puts the pieces together and suspects that Monique could be hiding at Graham's place. He is right - but Anton has got there first. Monique hides from her father, fearing his wrath. Ken arrives as Anton is about to wreak vengeance on Monique. As a result of his intervention, she takes Anton's gun and shoots her father. Ken puts himself at risk to stop further damage and Monique gives up the gun.
William makes it through surgery, but loses a kidney. Having had such a difficult relationship with his father, Alistair is rocked at the thought of losing him before they reach any resolution. Louise admits that she was thinking of leaving William, but as he struggles to consciousness, Louise takes her chance at redemption. She will not leave him.
At Mercy Peak, Nicky tries to resuscitate Anton, but to no avail. Despite her efforts, he dies. Nicky finds it hard to believe. The events of the day have taken their toll on Alistair. But Nicky now knows how much she cares about him, and any reservations she had no longer apply. Alistair has held that tiny candle for Nicky for all this time - and now finally, he gets his chance.
