Season 5, Episode 50: "Suspicious minds" (original air date: October 3, 2003)
Everyone gathers for Ken's housewarming at Daphne Ave. Wendy's efforts are horribly upstaged when Dana gives Ken a gift of significance, a toaster. Wendy, jealous and miserable, claims a migraine and leaves, just as Anton arrives looking for Nicky. Anton wants her to see Graham, whose condition has worsened. Kieran warns Anton off and makes Nicky promise not to visit.
The next morning finds Chad, on his way out of town, ostensibly on business. He is with young Bon Bracey, who has been knocked off his bike and is gravely ill. No one claims responsibility for the accident and suspicion falls on Chad, Chook Bracey's nemesis. Dana defends him hotly, but Chad feels guilty because of the true reason for his trip away. He takes this incident as a wake-up call to clean up his act. Dana remains blissfully unaware.
Meanwhile, Alistair is soldiering on with Liz, but she finds his dutiful attentions irritating and is relieved when he is called away from the party to work. In the morning when he visits, he realises she was drinking after the party, and furthermore, her car is missing. Alistair has the terrible suspicion that she ran over Bon, and that she's either hidden the car or can't remember because she blacked out. This leads to an ugly confrontation, where he accuses her of being a hopeless drunk, and she accuses him of being an emotionally-stunted dope addict.
Wendy admits her jealousy and is reassured by Ken, but as the grievance between Chad and Chook hots up, it seems that Wendy is hiding something. As she seems about to confess, Liz comes forward, accepting the possibility that she may have done it and not remembered - but there is no proof. Wendy reveals it couldn't have been Chad - because she was watching his motel unit in her jealous frenzy. Instead of driving Ken away, he is touched at the depths of her love. Liz accepts she has a problem, and also decides to do without Alistair's pity.
Meanwhile, Anton continues to pester Nicky until she feels forced to attend Graham and finds his condition is terrible. He is in septic shock and, despite her best efforts, he dies. Anton is angry, and Nicky feels appallingly negligent. She wants to come clean about her actions, but Kieran urges her to keep quiet. Alistair supports Nicky's decision to tell the truth. Kieran feels jealous and annoyed, but decides to take action himself. When he goes to warn Anton off, Anton is sure that he recognises Kieran. The visit prompts him to lay a complaint against Nicky. Nicky feels disquiet about her relationship with Kieran, but senses it's more than his jealousy of Alistair. But, perhaps unfortunately, she didn't fall in love with the nice guy.
